The "Murder, She Wrote" Series

I started writing this series, based upon the popular TV series (now in syndication), about 15 years ago, and have been turning out approximately two books a year ever since. The series is a joy to write, made more so by being in the caring, capable hands of the good editors at Signet.

The setting for most of the books has taken Jessica away from her beloved Cabot Cove and to places around the world, including London, Scotland, Provence, San Francisco, the Caribbean, Manhattan, Las Vegas, and New Orleans. Last year, I and my wife, Renée Paley-Bain, with whom I’ve been collaborating on the last six books, spent a wonderful week in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Destination: Murder, takes place. It was published in hardcover in October 2003. A trip to Las Vegas resulted in You Bet Your Life. Majoring in Murder, out last April, takes place on a midwestern college campus. Next spring will see Dying to Retire, set at a retirement community in South Florida. Coming up, A Vote for Murder, brings Jessica to our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., and will be followed by The Maine Mutiny back in Cabot Cove.

We enjoy hearing from "Murder, She Wrote" readers and devotees of the TV show. For your pleasure, we have added a link to an Angela Lansbury fan site here. A superb actress, Ms. Lansbury is an inspiration to us, and we hear her voice as we write Jessica's dialogue.
